justice anthony kennedy is planning to retire from the nation's highest court effective july 31st. he told his colleagues he personally delivered the retirement letter to president trump at the white house. trump said he holds kennedy in high esteem. the president said the search for a replacement will begin immediately -- and he'll pick from the list of possible justices he released during his campaign. senate

majority leader mitch mcconnell said the senate will vote to confirm kennedy's successor in the fall. ( robin ) senator kamala harris responded to the justice kennedy's announcement earlier today-- tweeting: "this supreme court seat is going to have a generational impact - on everything from roe v. wade to same-sex marriage - and the american people should be able to weigh in on who will be in this position." that's how more than a hundred people gathered at concord city hall felt... while holding signs and chanting in protest of a possible immigration detention center coming. this comes, after the department of homeland security proposed a detention center at the local, former weapons naval station. protestors showed up to voice their opinion at tonight's city council meeting. but before public comment began - city officials announced, there will be no detention center ... for now. but not everyone is convinced. "this is the studio where he worked and where the victim danced. we asked, but they have no comment at this time as they are still waiting to hear from police."the victim came forward earlier this year -- reporting to police she was assaulted about five years ago when she was just 15 years old. "she was timid to come forward and she didn't know what to do and i think her words were that it festered inside of her and the mental anguish of keeping this and so she eventually couldn't take it anymore."court documents show howarter committed the sexual acts "... against said

francisco arrest a man for a violent home invasion robbery in the city's south beach neighborhood. the robbery happened on the 200 block of king street on saturday. police say kem leblanc beat and choked the 65-year-old woman who lived in the home. the woman was treated and released from teh hospital. police found le blanc at a bus stop on 5th and howard streets 24 hours after the attack. he is facing several charges that include elder abuse. the man responsible for chasing -- and trying to grab a teenage girl in rohnert park. the victim got away and later identified matthew madrid as the suspect. madrid was arrested. but yesterday a judge dismissed the charges because of insufficient evidence. madrid has since been released from jail. ( darya ) a woman was arrested after police say she led officers on pursuit in palo alto. they say she was pulled over for a registration check at el camino real and stanford avenue. that's when officers discovered an outstanding warrant for assault with a deadly weapon. police say 34-year-old tyechia denise payton then drove away from police. when they caught up with her.. they say she punched an officer before being taken into custody. ( darya ) a man is arrested in mountain vew after pointing a gun at construction workers. it happened on the 600 block of tyrella avenue. the victims say they were directing traffic when a man got angry... started yelling and then pointed a gun at them.

( james ) the high end prostitute who pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of a bay area google executive in 2013 ... could now face new charges. prosecutors in georgia say they are trying to extradite alix tichelman so she can face separate charges in the deadly overdose of her boyfriend. tichelman was deported to canada after serving a sentence for giving a deadly heroin shot to forrest hayes on his yacht in santa cruz in november of 2013. she then left without calling for help when he passed out. tichelman got out of jail last year. she could now face murder charges in georgia. she is accused of causing her boyfriend's death... by giving him drugs while he was drunk.

( darya ) a sacramento mother is suing police and the sheriff's department... after she says her son was fatally shot for no reason. mikel mcintyre's family says they waited 14 months for information on why the 32-year old father was shot. police got calls about mcintyre choking a woman in a car.. that woman turned out to be his mother... who denies she was choked. the sheriff's department says mcintyre fought with police... hitting an officer in the head with a rock and also injuring a police dog. cell phone video shows him running from deputies just before he was shot. there is a number of producers that simply haven't tested their products others have chosen to test those products but those testing requirements have increased and as they increase everyone is sending their source materials off to what is known as a level to screening for state testing that's what all the producers are scrambling to do nowbut some products on dispensary shelves are being discounted because their packaging won't meet new child resistant and tamper resistant standards going in affect the same day. like this jar of pot right here....which has a plastic seal.....but isn't considered child resistant. here's another example of what state regulators are looking for. you might have to press down and turn it like you would a pill bottle the store staff say business has been brisk as a result.the more people that figure out there are sales going on they been coming in and flooding the store as well as onlineshoppers i spoke to were happy about the temporarily cheaper pot prices......but at least one, who didn't want to appear on camera was happier at the idea of t stricter pot screening.that's important i
